At the moment, heroes in Marvel Rivals can only be banned in the competitive game mode if you have reached Diamond rank or above, which makes the lower ranks suffer due to a few overpowered heroes like Hawkeye or Hela. Hence, applying hero bans to all ranks can maintain the game's competitive integrity.

This article will discuss whether hero bans should be a part of all ranks in Marvel Rivals and whether it would be beneficial to the players.

Should Marvel Rivals add the hero ban feature to all ranks?

Yes, Marvel Rivals should add the hero ban feature to all ranks. This will improve the overall experience for players, especially those who are relatively new.

There is a common trend among newer players to pick their favorite hero and completely ignore the necessity of the team. This results in horrific team compositions in Marvel Rivals that can almost never get a win.

This might spark the debate of the addition of a role queue system, but that isn't the solution the developers should be looking into. Role queue will, frankly, bring more harm than good to the game. The problem upon the addition of a role lock feature is that the game will lose all the versatility and excitement and force players to adopt a fixed playstyle.

A hero ban system, however, which already exists in ranks Diamond and above, should be implemented from the very beginning of ranked gameplay. This will not only give the players a chance to eliminate the overpowered options like Hela, but also provide a more balanced gameplay experience to all.

Newer players might still ignore the team compositions, but at least your opponents will not have the best counters at hand to punish you every single game. Even if you do not get to play a 2-2-2 team composition, a balanced hero pick on either side will give you a chance to compete.

Finally, some might complain about learning to play all the heroes so that you can have a better understanding of the game at higher ranks. However, the game also includes a Quick Play mode designed for this very purpose. Use all the different heroes you want in casual play, but when it comes to competitive, play to win. There is no reason to keep the lower ranks of competitive similar to casual modes and expect players to have a better experience.
