Emilie in Genshin Impact is a new 5-star Dendro character set to debut in the second half of version 4.8. She has an interesting kit that relies on the Burning reaction, which is not the most popular elemental reaction in the game. Furthermore, Emilie will be next to Yelan when her banner drops and Natlan is right around the corner and will introduce new units that will be a part of the new meta.

This raises the question of where Emilie will stand in the upcoming meta and her pull value in Genshin Impact. This article will briefly cover the renowned perfumer's kit and discuss if you should pull her.

Let's briefly cover Emilie's abilities to understand how she works and some other factors before discussing whether you should pull her in Genshin Impact 4.8.

Emilie is a Polearm user and her main source of damage is the Lumidouce Case that she summons after using her Elemental Skill, and it has the following effects:

  • Periodically fire Puffs of Puredew to deal AoE Dendro DMG to nearby enemies.
  • When an opponent is affected by the Burning reaction, the Lumidouce Case will accumulate two Scents and upgrade to Level 2, enabling it to fire an additional Puff of Puredew, dealing increased Dendro DMG.

Emilie also receives major buffs from her passive talents:

  • The Level 2 Lumidouce Case releases a Cleardew Cologne for every two Scents it collects, dealing AoE Dendro DMG based on Emilie's ATK.
  • Emilie's damage against enemies affected by Burning increases. The entire team's resistance to Burning DMG also increases.

It is important to note that only one Lumidouce Case can exist at a time and it will remain on the field even when Emilie is off-field, allowing her to function as a sub-DPS unit in Genshin Impact.

Meanwhile, Emilie's Elemental Burst has the following effects:

  • A new Level 3 Lumidouce Case is created and it collects the existing case.
  • The new case will continuously fire Scented Dew, dealing AoE Dendro DMG.
  • When the Burst duration ends, a new Lumidouce Case will be summoned and it will be the same level as the one before the burst was unleashed, essentially resetting the duration.

Emilie's pull value

Looking at her abilities, Emilie relies on the Burning reaction for most of her damage and has great multipliers. However, this also restricts her to Pyro and Dendro teams. Furthermore, even if she gains a good amount of buffs from her passives and other sources, the Burning reaction itself is lackluster and is the least effective Dendro reaction due to its low damage output.

At the same time, you can find other sub-DPS units that can deal far more damage and provide more utility to the team than Emilie in Genshin Impact. It is also worth adding that the renowned perfumer from Fontaine will receive a banner with Yelan, one of the best Hydro characters in the game. This automatically makes Emilie the worst option between the two.

It is also worth adding that Natlan is right around the corner. The Pyro nation will introduce a lot of new characters who will be meta and provide more to the account. Furthermore, it is unlikely that the Burning reaction will be able to top other elemental reactions.

That said, characters like Baizhu and Kokomi were also considered underwhelming on their debut but they are now two of the best in the game. Although very slim, maybe the same thing might happen to Emilie, but it might not be worth the risk.

Should you pull for Emilie in Genshin Impact?

All things considered, you can skip Emilie. Firstly, she will be on rate up alongside Yelan, who is objectively the better option of the two. Secondly, even if you already have Yelan, saving for future characters would be wiser. Lastly, as mentioned, Natlan is barely a month away, and it will introduce new characters who will provide more quality of life, so it is better to save for them.

However, you can go for Emilie if you simply like her as a character and do not care about meta.
