Is Xiangli Yao worth pulling in Wuthering Waves 1.2?

Xiangli Yao's abilities

Let's look at Xiangli Yao's kit before discussing his pull value and whether or not you should pull him in Wuthering Waves 1.2.

The base version of Xiangli Yao's Resonance Skill is pretty simple. It is called Divergence and it deals Electro DMG to the nearby enemy.

Upon casting the Huaxu Academy principal investigator's Resonance Liberation, he will deal Electro DMG to enemies and enter the Intuition state. Under this state, the following effects will trigger:

  • Obtain 3 Hypercubes. Each time he uses the Law of Reigns, he will consume one Hypercube.
  • Intuition state will end when all 3 Hypercubes are consumed.
  • The original Basic Attack and Heavy Attack are replaced by Basic Attack Pivot - Impale, which performs up to 3 consecutive strikes, dealing Electro DMG.
  • Resonance Skill - Divergence replaces Deduction.

Below is the list of skills in Xiangli Yao's Forte Circuit:

  • Resonance Skill - Divergence: When he has 100 Capacity stacks, Decipher replaces Deduction, dealing more Electro DMG. It is considered Resonance Liberation damage.
  • Resonance Skill - Law of Reigns: Law of Reigns replaces Divergence when he is in the Intuition state and has five Performance Capacity stacks. It deals even greater damage and is considered ultimate damage.
  • Mid-air attack - Revamp: Using Basic Attack after casting Divergence or Law of Reigns, he will consume stamina and perform a mid-air attack, dealing Electro DMG. It is also considered Resonance Liberation damage.

Xiangli Yao in Wuthering Waves also has two stack systems in his kit:

  • Capacity: Obtained when Basic Attack and Skill hits the enemy, max 100 stacks.
  • Performance Capacity: Obtain stacks when hitting an enemy with enhanced Basic Attack and Resonance Skill, max five stacks

Lastly, listed below are Xiangli Yao's Inherent and Outro Skills in Wuthering Waves:

  • Knowing: Gain a 5% Electro DMG bonus.
  • Focus: Interruption Resistance increased in the Intuition state.
  • Outro skill: When the incoming unit hits an enemy, Xiangli will also attack the same target, dealing Electro DMG.

Xiangli Yao pull value

Xiangli Yao is a decent on-field damage dealer with good self-buffs but relies too much on his ultimate for most of his damage. It is safe to say that he is at least better than Calcharo in terms of damage output, but he falls short when compared to a main DPS unit like Jinhsi.

It is also important to note that you might struggle to bring the best out of Xiangli Yao without Yinlin. He lacks flexibility and his best teams are not very F2P friendly, which might leave you to struggle in endgame content like the Tower of Adversity.

Furthermore, Zhezhi is the other featured 5-star Resonator in version 1.2, and she offers much more to the team, making Xiangli Yao the worse option between the two.

Should you pull for Xiangli Yao in Wuthering Waves 1.2?

Xiangli Yao has nothing unique to offer and doesn't bring much to the account. Therefore, you can skip him. If you are looking for a new character who can deal a good amount of damage and offer more flexibility, you are better off pulling Zhezhi.

That said, Xiangli Yao is not a bad unit per se. You can go for him if you simply like him as a character and aren't nitpicky about the meta.
