Should you save or kill the Mayor in Dragon Age The Veilguard
After you recruit Bellara and return to the Veil Jumper camp in Arlathan Forest, you will be asked to locate the scouts who were sent to a small village called D'Meta's Crossing. Unfortunately, the settlement has been overrun by blight and something feels terribly off in the place.

Interacting with the villagers will reveal an interesting fact - the mayor of D'Meta's Crossing is certainly behind everything that has been going on in the village. Progress through the Shadows Crossing quest, and you will find the mayor at the very end, covered in blight. He will confess that the Evanuris were behind the attack, tempting him to give up the villagers in exchange for gold and other riches.
Here you will have three options.
- Save him and let him go
- Save him and Exile him to the Grey Wardens
- Leave him there to his fate.
Choosing his fate will boil down to a few key consequences that you have to face later on:
- Choosing to save him will be approved by Neve, but Harding and Bellara will disagree
- Choosing to leave him will be approved by Harding and Bellara, but Neve will not agree with your decision
- Choosing to leave him will also unlock an additional side quest A Growing Corruption, where you will have to fight him, or rather his corrupted blighted state, later on in Arlathan Forest.
The fate of the mayor in Dragon Age The Veilguard certainly does not affect the ending in any way. However, if you intend to romance Neve it is better to exile him to the Grey Wardens, earning an early approval point. On the other hand, if you want to romance Bellara or Harding, leaving the mayor to his fate in Dragon Age The Veilguard is your best course of action.
