Fortnite’s cosmetic library is massive, with Epic Games constantly introducing innovative skins and characters for players to add to their collection and embody in their pursuit of a Victory Royale. Among these skins, some outfits are bound to gain more prominence than others, leading them to be featured in the in-game shop more frequently than others.
However, this isn’t always a good thing, as highlighted by a recent Reddit post shared by u/ToxicDuck_Official. In the post, the player expressed their dissatisfaction with the constant presence of the Skull Trooper Outfit and the Switchstep Emote in the Fortnite Item Shop.
The Reddit post ignited a flurry of reactions from the community, with u/LABARATI_ highlighting how the Skull Trooper Outfit was considered rare at one point:
“Skull Trooper is not cool anymore”

Other members of the community also chimed in, with Redditor u/RyanAKA2Late further highlighting how there was a time when players would have done anything to have the Skill Trooper as a part of their collection.
Meanwhile, u/_Luk3 expressed their surprise at the fact that other regular cosmetics like the Aura Outfit have been missing from the in-game shop for a long time.

u/Feisty-Clue3482 pointed out how the recent Fortnite Item Shop has largely featured the same skins and cosmetic bundles every few weeks and that it’s always those that are considered sweaty by many players.
u/BeanBurrito668, on the other hand, came to the Switchstep Emote’s defense, expressing how while it is not rare anymore, they don’t really care about such cosmetics that much.
Why is the Skull Trooper Outfit featured so frequently in the Fortnite Item Shop?

As highlighted by the Reddit post, the Skull Trooper Outfit has become a frequent visitor in the Item Shop, with the skin even being featured at the time of writing (June 22, 2024). This begs the question: why is a skin that was once very exclusive so common these days?
Well, the answer is simple. The Skull Trooper Outfit is one of the most loved skins in the game, owing to its unique design and its ties to the game’s earliest days. It is possible that Epic Games features it in the Item Shop constantly due to players’ appreciation for the outfit and the constant demand for it.
