Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the latest addition to Sega's iconic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It promises a dynamic racing experience that no other game offered before. It is developed by Sonic Team and slated for a 2025 release under the Sega banner. This game will introduce innovative mechanics and a diverse roster to please longtime fans and attract a new audience for the game.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gameplay

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a kart racing game at its core that builds upon the features from predecessors while introducing new elements for engaging gameplay. Players can choose between various standard race cars. The cars can adapt to different terrains by transforming into boats or planes, a mechanic previously used in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The game reintroduces Extreme Gear hoverboards from the Sonic Riders series, offering a boost-centric racing style.

This Sonic racing game has a unique feature called Travel Rings, which activates during the second lap and allows the lead racer to select between two portals that transport all participants to "CrossWorld" dimensions. These alternate dimensions change the racing environment and introduce random "frenzy" modifiers to make the race unpredictable and exciting. However, the racers return to the original track in the final lap but with altered elements opening new paths and shortcuts to keep competitors on their toes.
