Splitgate 2 CEO Ian Proulx points his finger at a former Call of Duty employee for the game's aggressive monetization policies. For those unaware, Splitgate 2's release has been nothing but controversial. Starting with the "Make FPS great again" hat at Summer Game Fest 2025 to bashing Call of Duty games, 1047 Games is on a roll, taking jabs at the industry giants.
While many cheered the developers for their bold takes, their monetization system in the game had many upset. At launch, they were essentially selling a bundle that was discounted by 45% and still cost players $80. This attracted negative reaction from fans and was deemed aggressive monetization.
However, Splitgate 2's CEO has come out and addressed the fiasco concerning the moves on monetizing the game. Read on to learn more about what Ian Proulx had to say.

Splitgate 2 CEO claims ex-Call of Duty employee pushed aggressive monetization policies
Splitgate 2 CEO Ian Proulx stated that the latest fiasco surrounding predatory and aggressive monetization in the title had to do with the former head of monetization, who happened to have come from Call of Duty.

Defending his stance on the recent monetization controversy, Proulx said,
"The second I got off that stage, I called Derek, our lead game designer, and I said, Derek, did you know we had an $80 bundle? This is news to me, like what the heck, that makes no sense, and he didn’t. Essentially, what happened is our former head of monetization, who happened to come from Call of Duty, was with us for less than a year and was very aggressive on the pricing. And so, actually prior to his departure, we actually originally had Founders Packs at $100."
The $80 bundle in question is called "Nano Swarm", and at launch, it was priced at over $140 with a 45% discount, leading to the $80 price tag. The bundle features a total of eight in-game items and costs almost the same as new AAA games.
According to Ian, it was a mistake, and 1047 Games' former head of monetization, who was an ex-Call of Duty employee, was to be blamed for the aggressive pricing model.
Since then, Ian Proulx has constantly addressed the issues concerning 1047 Games' latest release and has now decided to cut the bundle's price to $40. But that's not all. The studio is reducing prices of items across the board and will refund all players the difference ($40) who bought the Nano Swarm bundle for $80.
