Final Fantasy XV has been tough to develop, so in what seems to be a surprising move, Square Enix has seeked out help from former developer HexaDrive.
Final Fantasy XV director, Hajime Tabata, revealed in a new interview with Famitsu that Square Enix has been collaborating with HexaDrive for the past two years. HexaDrive has been working along side Square Enix since before the E3 2013.
HexaDrive came on board when Final Fantasy XV was still known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII. HexaDrive seems to be helping Square Enix a lot as the game is now 60 percent developed. Before HexaDrive came into picture, Square Enix was having a rather hard time getting anything done.

HexaDrive has more recently assisted Square Enix to develop Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The developer has also worked on other big titles like Okami HD, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and more.
Square Enix and HexaDrive even went location scouting in China. From what we hear they were looking for a cave that was an inspiration to the dungeon we saw from the Final Fantasy XV demo.
Believe it or not, HexaDrive had a huge role to play in the development of this game and frankly speaking I do no think that it would hvae been possible without their help.
