Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince recently launched on PC and mobile devices, albeit with a missing feature available on the Switch. Players have recently found out that the PvP feature, that was originally accessible, is not going to be available on PC or mobile devices. While working on my review of the PC port, I reached out to Square Enix to see if the specific reason could be divulged. It’s certainly one that makes sense to me as a long-time fan of online PC gaming.
We did love Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince here, both on the Switch and the PC port, but the missing feature may be a turn-off for some players. However, if you want to know the official reasons, we’ve got them for you.

Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince missing feature explained
The reasons that Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince's PC and mobile port are missing the Nintendo Switch’s PvP feature, as revealed by Square Enix’s PR team, are:
“This title does not feature PvP elements as we are unable to provide sufficient support to users for the various situations that may arise in an online battle environment, and because it is difficult to realize cross-play with the Nintendo Switch.”
What this tells us is pretty clear, and what I assumed in the first place. People are almost 100% going to cheat in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince’s PVP mode. Not everyone will, but there will without a doubt be people who resort to unfair means. It was likely already happening on the Switch, by people who modified their consoles, for example.
It is unlikely that this missing feature in Dragon Quest The Dark Prince is going to get added in the future, either. If there were a way to prevent people from hacking the game and modifying their monsters, that would be one thing. That kind of behavior ruins the experience for everyone, so it won’t be available.
However, Quickfire Contests are still in the game, which serves as a close second to PVP. It’s a series of 30 automatic PVE battles, which uses the data of other registered users. This will continue to be available in both the PC and Mobile ports of DQM3. Players may still use this to their advantage to cheat in some fashion, but it will likely make it less stressful to deal with overall.
It’s an unfortunate fact that across the world of online gaming, several players won't let go an opportunity to bend the rules too far, even in PvP. Whether it’s an MMO, or Call of Duty Warzone, hacking is something that continually happens. Unfortunately, this has likely ruined things for players who were excited about Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince PvP.
