Stalker 2 is not a very well-optimized game. PC gamers are especially facing a lot of glitches and bugs including crashes at launch, the "out of memory" error, and now a memory leak problem. Simply put, a memory leak means that the game is demanding more VRAM than what your graphics card can provide. Currently, the developers have not recognized or released a patch to solve this issue.

Mentioned below are a few fixes that might solve the problem for you. However, if these solutions don't solve the problem for you, unfortunately, you must wait until GSC Game World releases an official patch for this error.

Fixing memory leak in Stalker 2

Lower your graphics settings

The easiest potential fix is to lower your graphics settings in Stalker 2. You can do so by opening Graphics Settings under Game Settings. This will most likely solve the issue since VRAM requirements get lower as you turn down your graphics settings.

Open the task manager to take a look at the GPU usage. To do so, search for Task Manager in the Windows search bar or just press Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Here, go to the Performance tab and see if any software is using unnecessary GPU memory. If you recognize any app or software that is using your GPU memory, you can either uninstall it or just end that process to solve the memory leak issue.

Verify the integrity of game files

If you have any damaged files, this can also lead to memory leaks. To check and fix this, verify your game files by following the steps mentioned below:

Steam

  • Launch Steam on your PC.
  • Open your Game Library.
  • Right-click on the game and open Properties.
  • Browse through all the options and go to the Installed Files tab.
  • Select "Verify Integrity of Game Files" and let Steam analyze everything.

Xbox Game App

  • Open the Xbox Games App.
  • Right-click on Stalker 2's tile from the game library.
  • Click on "Manage" and then on "Files."
  • Select "Verify and Repair."

Use Stalker 2 mods

Even though there has been no official patch for performance-related problems in Stalker 2, the modding community has been active since release day and has come up with some amazing mods that can help improve the game's performance.

Check your PC for malware

Use an anti-virus or anti-malware software to ensure that your PC is not infected by any malware. Various malware can lead to memory leak problems in PCs.

If none of these fixes worked for you, unfortunately, you must wait till GSC Game World solves the problem with a hotfix or a patch.
