Stalker 2: Should you side with Noontide or the Ward in Wishful Thinking quest?

Unlike previous games of the franchise, Stalker 2 isn't linear, and takes place in an open-world setting. Players will need to make multiple hard decisions throughout the gameplay, which can alter the ending or the story accordingly. One such choice that players face is during the "Wishful Thinking" quest.

As you approach the end of this quest, you will have to pick one side. You can either choose Noontide, or you can join Ward's side. However, what are the consequences of either of these choices? Let's find out.

Which side should you pick in Stalker 2?

As part of the game's main storyline, you will first need to complete the "Forge of Progress" quest. After this, you will unlock "Wishful Thinking". At the end of this mission, you will need to choose between Noontide and Ward. For those unaware, these two are among the many factions present in Stalker 2.

Since you play as Skif, who is an independent Stalker, you will need to side with various factions at different times in the game. However, these choices should not be taken lightly.

What happens if you choose Noontide?

If you pick Noontide, you will have to fight against the Ward at the end of this quest. During the battle, you will kill a lot of Ward soldiers. Do note that you won't receive any bonus rewards after completing the mission. Even though this choice doesn't directly impact the ending, it is morally correct to pick Noontide here.

Later on, you will help Strider remove a wall using explosives, and complete a few more quests ("To the Last Drop of Blood" being the last one).

What if you choose the Ward?

If you pick Ward, you will have to eliminate Dubny. Ward soldiers will assist you in this, making it quite easy to kill Dubny. There will be no bonus rewards for picking Ward either; however, you will gain Ward's reputation and then unlock the "Law and Order" quest.

All in all, even though it is up to you to decide which side you want to join, morally, helping Noontide is your safest bet. However, if you want to unlock the Ward ending of the game, you can pick that side and use the increased reputation to your benefit.
