Similarities between Star Wars Outlaws and Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Fast travel

Both games feature a fast travel mechanic to help the player traverse through the games' vast playable areas. Within Jedi Survivor, players need to access meditation points across the map. Once accessed, the fast travel option needs to be selected, following which a list of available locations will show up that the player can travel to.

In Outlaws, players need to complete a tutorial stage to access fast travel. However, players won't actually be able to fast-travel to any locations until they have completed the mission Underworld. Once the mission in question is completed, players simply need to open the map and use a command to fast travel to their desired location.

Skill upgrades

In both games, players have the opportunity to upgrade their main character as they progress. Jedi Survivor allows players to upgrade their skills by using XP. This is beneficial to help players level up their weapon skill and lightsaber move set.

Outlaws also allow players to upgrade their skills, though they must interact with nine different Experts, all of whom give Kay a free skill to start off with. Should players want to increase the number of usable skills, they must complete the tasks assigned to them by these experts in order to unlock the desired skill.

Availability

Both games are available for players across the three major gaming platforms. Outlaws was released for the PS5, PC, and Xbox on August 30, 2024. Jedi Survivor was released in 2023 onto all the aforementioned platforms, along with ports for the PS4 and Xbox One console generations as well.

Differences between Star Wars Outlaws and Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Stealth mechanics

Star Wars Outlaws' open world and story is built around utilizing the game's stealth mechanics. To maintain her cover, Kay Vess frequently has to sneak past guards. Additionally, the supporting character Nix can also aid in this by helping distract guards to keep suspicion levels low.

On the other hand, Jedi Survivor players can attempt to be stealthy in their quests to defeat enemies without creating much noise, though there is no dedicated mechanic for stealth attacks.

New Game+

Jedi Survivor offers players the opportunity to replay the game in a New Game+ mode, which allows you to enjoy Cal's story from the beginning with an enhanced playable character. Players carry over cosmetics, weapon upgrades, character perks, and more. However, character abilities locked behind game progression will not be carried over.

Star Wars Outlaws presently does not offer players any opportunities to traverse Toshara as Kay Vess in a New Game+ mode. It is a feature gamers are hoping will be implemented into the game with future title updates.

Reputation system

Outlaws employs a reputation system for Kay Vess in-game, wherein the actions of the player can result in a gain or loss of reputation for the player depending on how their actions affect the world around them. A good reputation will see Kay being offered help and benefits such as ammo restocks by the different factions in-game.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor on the other hand does not have any reputation mechanic within the game. This means that Cal's actions do not raise or lower his standing amongst others across the game's world.
