During this year's BlizzCon, Blizzard had officially announced the third and final chapter of the Starcraft 2 trilogy, "Legacy of the Void." The company had also announced that the installment will be a standalone game and an expansion at the same time. The new trailer revealed new units, as well as new game modes. Also, an automated tournament system will aid players who like to organize their own multiplayer events.
One of the game modes announced is the Archone Mode, where two players will be sharing control over a single base and units, taking on another duo in multiplayer. The full description for Archone mode is as follows : “Two heads are better than one – you and an ally share control over a singular base to battle against the enemy in multiplayer action. Learn StarCraft tactic basics from a seasoned veteran or amplify the power of a burgeoning all-star. Embody the spirit of Archon and merge together to become a greater, unified force.”
Blizzard announced one more mode called the Allied Commanders, in which the players are given a choice to choose the commander of their wish from any of the races and fight in diverse scenarios that will have dynamic campaign-like objectives. This mode will be an open-ended experience for the players.
Full description for Allied Commanders is as follows: “Join the battle with a friend in an open-ended cooperative experience. Choose a powerful commander from your favorite race and fight in diverse scenarios with dynamic, campaign-style objectives. Level up your commander to gain access to new units, abilities, and customization options for your army. The time is now. The theater of war awaits, commander.”
There is no details on the official date of release yet, but you can always try the beta version. Be ready for some more surprises.
