The tool is extremely important as it ensures players receive much better quality drops. However, it may take time to obtain it because you will first need to find out where it is. To obtain the Drone Hacking Tool, you must first proceed through the main story until you reach Xion. This requires you to locate the Alpha Naytiba Gigas and defeat it while adding Lily to your squad. When Eve, Adam, and Lily arrive in Xion, Lily will return to introduce the updated Drone, which now works as Eve's rifle.

After this, visiting the Drone menu allows you to purchase several weapon upgrades. There is also a path on the left focusing on the Drone's utility, the first of which is the Hacking Tool upgrade for a single Drone Upgrade Module.

Drone Upgrade Modules are rare items obtained in chests or upon defeating powerful foes. However, at this stage in the game, you will have easily obtained at least one.

High-security sealed Chests, scattered across the vast semi-open world, resemble conventional chests except for the yellow holographic police tape that surrounds them. Because these chests need a Drone upgrade to be opened, the treasure they contain is always more valuable and plentiful than that of any other chest in the region.

Simply approach them and wait for the drone to scan the chest before unlocking it. The Hacking Tool instantly opens them. Thereafter, Eve can open it and plunder its contents. This upgrade has only one level and works on all High-Security Sealed Chests in the game, making it the best upgrade to obtain right away.
