Storm in Marvel Rivals is a Duelist-class hero in the game. An omega-level mutant in her lore, she has the power to manipulate weather and use it to wreak havoc on enemy players. Storm has been part of the game since its closed-alpha launch, and while it might've not been as apparent then, the introduction of many new characters now indicates that she might not be suited for her role.

This article will explore why Storm in Marvel Rivals could be a better Strategist than a Duelist.

Reasons why Storm in Marvel Rivals would be a better Strategist

Storm's abilities in Marvel Rivals, in our opinion, are quite underwhelming. Despite being classified as an omega-level mutant, the hero's abilities are not at par with other Duelists in the title.

Let's break down her kit and explore why it is more suited for a Strategist than a Duelist. We will also discuss the potential changes that will make her a fantastic Strategist in the game.

Wind Blade (Primary)

Wind Blade is Storm's primary ability, and it's a projectile that can deal 50 damage in a 25-meter range. This, when compared to the DPS output from other Duelists, is extremely low. Furthermore, her damage also drops to 25 when she crosses the 25-meter threshold.

We believe her damage drop-off is a massive penalty. This should be altered to provide improved weapon balancing for her.

Bolt Rush (Secondary)

With Bolt Rush, Storm in Marvel Rivals can unleash a surge of lightning that deals 70 damage on impact. This ability feels absolutely lackluster as it brings close-to-nothing to the battlefield when you are a Duelist. A single click from a Strategist can easily peel off this damage.

This ability should be reworked to not just inflict base damage, but also inflict some form of status damage, such as a minor stun, or some other form of crowd-control ability. Irrespective of her role as a Duelist or a Strategist, we do believe that this ability needs to be inspected by the developers.

Goddess Boost

Goddess Boost is what makes us believe that Storm is the perfect candidate for the Strategist class. This ability empowers Storm in Marvel Rivals to control the weather and provide teammates within her effective range with certain boosts.

When using Tornado, teammates within Storm's effective vicinity get a 30% speed boost, and any enemies within this radius get slowed by 10%. When using Thunder in Goddess Boost, her teammates are provided with a 25% damage boost and lightning strikes enemies every 2 seconds dealing 45 damage.

This ability, we believe, is something that is suited for Strategists in the game. In a way, it is a reworked version of Luna Snow's ultimate, Fate of Both Worlds.

Goddess Boost is undoubtedly the strongest part of Storm's kit, and it's also why we think Storm would be better suited as a Strategist in Marvel Rivals.

Charged Gale (Team-up)

Charged Gale is a Team-up ability available to Storm when pairing with Thor in Marvel Rivals. It allows her to chain lightning strikes, dealing 50 damage per hit. Each lightning strike automatically targets nearby enemies.

We believe that being an omega-level mutant, Storm should not need a team-up with Thor to inflict a chain-lightning effect. We believe this ability should be made a part of her basic kit, and something like Lightning Rush should entirely be removed.

In our opinion, the changes mentioned above will improve the general quality of life for players who seek to play as Storm in Marvel Rivals, and would also transition her from a sub-par Duelist to a fantastic Strategist in the game.
