Super Smash Bros is now officially the fastest selling Wii U game in history, as per the latest announcement by Nintendo. Super Smash Bros has sold a staggering 490,000 copies already since its release just a few days ago on November 21st. The sales have surpassed that of the previous record holder Mario Kart 8 which was released this year back in May.
Nintendo has included both retail and digital sale numbers of Super Mash Bros.for Wii U. So adding up, the Super Smash Bros series as a whole has sold over 14 million copies worldwide since the series debut in 1999 for the Nintendo 64.
What’s more commendable is that these are just the sales for North America, as the game has not yet released in Europe or Japan.
The sales would have definitely been higher if the game had a global launch. So 490,000 is a pretty huge number for just North America alone especially considering the fact that the Wii U is the least popular of the new gen consoles. So this is a pretty high amount indeed and proves that Nintendo has still got game.
The game is slated to release November 27th for Europe and on December 6th for Japan.
