The 2024 League of Legends World Championship witnessed a phenomenon as T1 defeated Gen.G following a clinical performance in the Semifinals. The team is now set to compete against China's Bilibili Gaming in the Grand Final, aiming to achieve consecutive championships over two years. Despite the score of 3-1 in favor of T1 against Gen.G, the contest felt akin to a five-game series with many back-and-forth advantages.
This triumph holds greater significance as Gen.G has consistently outperformed T1 in their last 10 encounters. Since their success at MSI 2023, T1 has been unable to surpass the former's exceptional performances. Moreover, with a diminished T1 entering Worlds 2024, this win against Gen.G reinforces their position as one of the greatest League of Legends rosters in history.

T1 started the series on the blue side and managed to pick prominent meta champions like Ashe, Yone, and Vi. Furthermore, the early-game lane swap was impactful in securing the Voidgrubs. Afterward, Gumayusi's Ashe obliterated the Gen.G frontline with brilliant team fights from the whole team.
Despite losing the second game, T1 snowballed the third game with Faker's impeccable Akali performance against Chovy's Ahri. Also, the Gragas pick from Zeus massively impacted the team fights.

The last team fight commenced with Faker being executed, yet T1 ultimately triumphed in it. Keria and Oner played pivotal roles by successfully apprehending Peyz and Chovy, while Gumayusi ended the match with an outstanding performance on Lethality Varus, effectively securing victory over Gen.G.
With this win, T1 ended the 10-game losing streak against Gen.G and reached the League of Legends Worlds Grand Final for three consecutive years. This is the first time in history that a team with the same players has achieved this remarkable feat. Additionally, this marks Faker's seventh appearance in the Worlds Grand Final.
T1 will now face Bilibili Gaming on November 2, 2024, at London's O2 Arena. The countdown for the matchup has been provided below:
Gumayusi wins the League of Legends Worlds 2024 Semifinals MVP
In this year's Worlds, the ADC of T1, Gumayusi, has consistently demonstrated superiority over all other ADCs. With exceptional support from Keria, he adeptly navigated team fights and inflicted significant damage upon his opponents. Against Gen.G, Gumayusi won two games with Ashe and one with Varus.
T1 navigated the lane swap tactics effectively throughout this tournament. The Botlane duo of Gumayusi and Keria consistently achieved an advantage in terms of gold or experience points during the early game.
During the post-match interview, Gumayusi was asked how T1 finally overcame Gen.G after experiencing numerous defeats. To this he said,
"Because, this is Worlds."
On the other hand, Gen.G's Chovy received accolades as the best player globally due to his impeccable performances over the year. Numerous predictions had even suggested that they would emerge victorious in League of Legends Worlds 2024.
However, Chovy once again fell short of achieving the apex of League of Legends esports following a subpar performance in the series. While he contributed effectively and performed commendably, the entire team exhibited a deficiency in the clutch factor. It will be intriguing to see whether Gen.G will implement any roster changes for the 2025 season.
