Predictions
Team Liquid has had an interesting CS:GO Major so far. They were woeful during the opening day of the tournament but quickly pulled it back to make it to the Legends Stage. Since then, they have looked like a top 5 team with clean fundamentals, a strong map pool, and incredible consistency thanks to riflers Keith "NAF" Markovic and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.
NAF has enjoyed a phenomenal showing so far. YEKINDAR taking up some of the IGL-ing duties from Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella has enabled the latter to attain his career-best rating in a CS:GO Major. Team Liquid is looking to be an outside contender for the title, and is deadly when they are playing at their best. This is also the first time since 2019 that Team Liquid has qualified for a CS:GO Major playoffs.
Apeks has witnessed an interesting trajectory as an organization. They were considered by many to be a failed project after the signing of French legend Richard "shox" Papillon did not work out. The team was loitering in the tier-two scene of CS:GO for a while. The addition of young IGL Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski rejuvenated the Apeks lineup, and they peaked at the perfect time.
Apeks' roster has the right balance of veterans and young blood looking to prove themselves on the main stage. Players like Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad and Martin "STYKO" Styk have been in the scene for so long and are looking to make the final push towards stardom. Apeks has been a pleasant surprise at the CS:GO Major so far and definitely has the capabilities to pull off an upset against Team Liquid.
All odds are against Apeks coming into this matchup. Liquid is expected to be the heavy favorite, but Apeks' current roster has proved they have the skill and mental resilience to fight against the best. This will be an interesting quarter-finals matchup, but Team Liquid should be the favorites to close this series out and end Apeks' underdog run.
