What are Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown's PC system requirements?
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is developed by KT Racing, who previously worked on titles like TT Isle of Man, V-Rally, WRC, etc. The studio is using its in-house "KT Engine" for its latest offering. The title will support all modern graphical bells and whistles, including, but not limited to, ray-traced reflections, global illumination, and shadows.
As such, it was expected by many fans that the game would feature higher-than-average system requirements, akin to something like the recently released Forza Motorsport.
However, it seems the system requirements detailed by KT Racing for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown far surpass those of any other recent racing title. To drive this point home, the game's "Medium" preset demands an RTX 2080 equivalent GPU, that too at just 1080p.
With that in mind, here are the system requirements for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown:
Medium 1080p@60fps
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
- Memory: 12 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, 8GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700, 10GB
- Network: High-speed Internet connection
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
High 1440@60fps
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K or AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, 12GB or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, 16GB
- Network: High-speed Internet connection
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
Ultra 2160@60fps
- OS: Windows 10
- CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
- Memory: 32 GB RAM
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, 24 GB
- Network: High-speed Internet connection
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
It should be noted that the system requirements mentioned by KT Racing are subject to change. The system requirements here are specifically for the game's demo version, and there's still plenty of time between now and the Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown's official release.
What is Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown's file size?
Apart from the game's PC system requirements, another major detail that has come to light is the file size, which is quite small, at least compared to other similar open-world racing games. The storage requirement for Test Drive Unlimited is just 50 gigabytes (with the download size being 44 GB), which is quite surprising.
For comparison, Forza Horizon 5, even without its two major DLCs, takes up a whopping 95 gigabytes of storage on Xbox's SSD. By that metric, Solar Crown's file size is quite small.
However, the storage requirement mentioned by KT Racing is for the game's demo version, and it's quite likely that the release version might have a much larger file size. There have been titles in the past that featured 40-50 GB demos, with the release versions surpassing 100 gigabytes. Examples for this include, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Forza Horizon 4, etc.
