The Game of the Year 2024 was a night full of surprises. While the event featured sensational announcements, including the highly anticipated Witcher 4, Okami 2, and many more, none of the announcements or the celebrity cameos were talked about as much as the biggest award of the night and its winner.
Even before the show’s premiere, The Game Awards had been under a lot of criticism for this year’s selection of Games. However, when the indie platformer, Astro Bot, won the Game of the Year 2024, many gamers on social media lost their cool. They flocked to online open forums like Reddit to share their criticisms.
The nominations for the Game of the Year 2024 were:
- Astro Bot
- Balatro
- Black Myth: Wukong
- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Metaphor: ReFantazio
