Stardew Valley was released first in 2016 and is a timeless classic among the indie game catalogue. Inspired by the Harvest Moon series, Stardew Valley is set in a small town of the same name where players inherit their grandfather's farm and need to grow crops, rear animals and other farm things.

There is much more to it than that. You can socialize and marry people from the town, mine for minerals, fight monsters and do quests. There is actually an endless amount of things one can do in this game. There are seasons for every "Year" and Years can go for many iterations.

Celeste is an 8-bit side-scroller game which is also insanely challenging. Players can also unlock harder versions of the levels as they complete each run of the game. They can also access the "Variant" game mode which upon defeating the first 3 difficulties, allows you to customize the game physics to your liking.
Celeste also has a very beautiful and touching story. It has been rated one of the best games of 2018, despite the simple game design. It was praised for its story as well as gameplay.
