Ubisoft's latest arena shooter has created a buzz within the FPS community, as several players have called out the game's developers for ruining snipers in XDefiant Season 1. According to a post by user @XDefiantHub on X, the developers have nerfed snipers in the game's latest season.
Players have noticed that the M44, TAC-50, and L115 sniper rifles have received a slight increase in spread while hip firing, which contradicts firing during ADS. The user also mentioned that the sprint-to-shoot time in all the above rifles had increased significantly in XDefiant Season 1.
According to many players, such as @lukepilott, the game is heading towards its downfall. This isn't just in response to the nerf of sniper weapons inXDefiant Season 1, but also other issues that are making it less enjoyable for casual players in the XDefiant community.
Expressing their disappointment in the game, @lukepilott posted:

Another user, @ITzCarnagee, expressed frustration towards the developers at XDefiant and questioned why high-skill weapons receive nerfs while low-skill weapons are left unchecked. The user specifically mentioned MP7 SMG and ACR AR as examples of point-and-shoot weapons favored by aggressive players.
Players were shocked after the sniper nerfs in XDefiant Season 1, as it was a low blow for all sniper enthusiasts. User @GeeLewskiz mentioned how unnecessary the nerfs were:

Some players find snipers to be the most challenging weapons in XDefiant, compared to other options. For instance, @LwYotes believes that snipers are already cumbersome and can slow down traversal. This is because opponents using SMGs have a higher likelihood of winning an encounter, as ARs and SMGs do not impede the in-game movement.

In XDefiant Season 1, most maps are designed to promote fast-paced gunplay. Players need to actively engage in countering opponents and clearing angles simultaneously to secure more eliminations.
According to user @Falloutchief, players have had to adapt to using snipers as assault rifles and incorporating quick scopes to enhance survivability. However, recent nerfs have posed challenges for sniper mains, as the increased time to kill has made it harder for them to achieve more eliminations.

User @JointheKraize believes Ubisoft is attempting to disrupt the skill gap in the game by weakening snipers. According to the user, less skilled players who struggle to control recoil are being defeated with just one shot from snipers, even after they fire multiple shots at their enemies.
The user suggests that this change is intended to give new players a better chance to compete against their opponents and create a fair playing field for everyone.

Are the sniper nerfs in XDefiant Season 1 justified?
The sniper nerfs in XDefiant Season 1 are justified because the developers want the game to be fair for everyone. Balance changes may be frustrating for gamers who focus on a specific weapon class, but they are necessary to maintain the learning curve and help players become familiar with adaptability in the game.

The sniper nerfs introduced in XDefiant Season 1 were intended to address the skill gap, but they also sparked a negative reaction. Ubisoft is aiming to dominate the FPS market, but a significant number of players reacted unfavorably to the sniper nerfs.
Many players have expressed that the game pales in comparison to Call of Duty, which is XDefiant's major competitor. This doesn't imply that the developers are ignoring sniper enthusiasts. It presents an opportunity for players to adapt to the new settings and provide feedback. The higher-ups have shown concern for the game's gunplay by actively implementing nerfs.
