The following are the core objectives of this main mission of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom :
- Heading to the Hyrule Castle
- Finding Captain Hoz
- Reporting back to Purah
Heading to the Hyrule Castle
Right after arriving at the Lookout Landing, you can interact with Purah, who is the head of the area. She insists Link share all his information with the search party stationed at the Hyrule Castle and meets a man named Captain Hoz to assist him in finding Princess Zelda.
Proceed towards the exit gate near the observatory, and feel free to explore the ruins you encounter beside Purah’s location. There will be two individuals talking about it. You can head under a stone and use Link’s Ascend ability to teleport to the top of the ruins.
Here you will find a Steward Construct capable of upgrading the Energy Cells provided you hand him over some Crystallized Charges. Right outside the exit gate, you will come across Addison, who is struggling to hold a sign pole in its place.
You can use the Ultrahand ability on the planks in the vicinity to create a platform to support the pole and prevent it from falling. Once the support is created, you can interact with Addison and urge him to let go of the pole. You will receive some money and other items as a reward for helping him.
On your way to the castle, you will come across the Kyononis shrine near a bunch of tents. You can refer to this extensive guide on how to complete the Kyononis Shrine. If you don’t wish to partake in it, at least interact with the entrance to activate a fast travel point which will be helpful later in this mission.
Finding Captain Hoz
Proceed towards the castle until you reach a huge gate which may seem like a dead end, but you can use Ultrahand to open it. Traverse the winding path ahead and make your way toward the First Gatehouse.
You will come across an area in this gatehouse comprising of some tents and a soldier who comments on how the Upheaval event has resulted in decaying all the weapons. Captain Hoz is located high above this spot. You can therefore use the balcony area to climb the castle walls and reach the highest altitude or use the Ascend ability to propel Link higher.
Alternatively, there are a set of stairs on the left section of the castle, which you can use to reach a higher level and then climb the walls to arrive at a spot where Captain Hoz is located. He is elated to see Link alive, after which a short cutscene is triggered. Hoz then requests you to report back to Purah about the occurrences.
Reporting back to Purah
You can now fast-travel to the Kyononis Shrine you encountered on your way to the Hyrule Castle. Proceed to the Lookout Landing and interact with Purah.
After some information exchange, she will urge you to explore the area and take a rest in the Emergency Shelter area. You can also find a Goddess Statue and a cooking station along with a bed to rest.
Feel free to interact with other NPCs in the shelter and then head towards a tower in the Lookout Landing. Purah will hand you the paraglider and instruct you to use Purah Pad on the terminal. You will be given a small tutorial of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Skyview Towers, wherein Link gets propelled high in the air.
You can get accustomed to the paraglider, land on any spot, and return to Purah in the Lookout Landing to conclude the "Crisis At Hyrule Castle" (Part 1) quest.
