Appearance
Each weapon has two forms, one when it is initially summoned and another once it has reached a certain level of ascension. Once this occurs, the weapon will undergo a change in its design. The Widsith is a silver booklet that upon closer inspection displays a light blue nighttime background with the moon hanging overhead. The book’s outer casing is a bright silver color

The outer edges of the book are a goldish bronze color and the moon is now replaced with a sun. The previous outdoor scenery is now replaced with a spacelike background with a road near the edges of the book.
Story
A notebook that was shared among the members of the Wanderer's Troupe. It contains musical scores and travel journals. The history of the troupe has been lost, since it was disbanded before Mondstadt was rebuilt.
The notebook records the experiences of the Troupe, the lands they roamed and the worlds they witnessed.
It siphons great power from the records of the Troupe's performances as well as the cheering of the crowds they performed for.
The Wanderer's Troupe was founded during the reign of the Aristocracy.
Many referred to it as the Swordsman's Troupe — some out of hope, others out of fear.
Even poems and songs were denied the right to freedom in that era.
For flutes they had swords, for harps they had bows, and their song was an anthem of rebellion.
Their final act was an attempt to storm the city and impose the death sentence upon its tyrannical rulers.
The Swordsman's Troupe had gone, and with it the memory of their rebellion.
But the spirit of resistance they embodied will always flow in Mondstadters' veins.

The Widsith is hands down one of the strongest 4-star DPS catalyst options in the game. Between its very useful substat in %Crit DMG and its very powerful passive ability. For most catalyst characters like Ningguang or Yanfei it is the single best 4-Star option available in terms of damage, only rivaled by Dodoco Tales which is an event exclusive.
How does The Widsith’s proc work?
When a character using The Widsith is switched in, it has the possibility of getting one of three buffs assuming the item is not on cooldown. This is signified by the musical note that appears over the character’s head.

Who is the best user of The Widsith?
Mona absolutely loves it. With her emphasis on burst damage, she uses all three parts of its proc very well so she doesn’t mind whichever one she gets, unlike some characters who might prefer a couple of them over the others (Ningguang getting the EM proc for example since Geo has next to no offensive use for EM). A fully refined Widsith is hands down her BiS, even beating out 5-star catalysts like Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds or Skyward Atlas unless they are also highly refined.
Final Thoughts
The Widsith is easily one of the strongest offensive catalyst options in the game. Between its substat %Crit DMG which is an invaluable stat for most damage dealers and powerful procs that are generally usable by all, it provides a sizable increase in damage compared to others in its class, although it is somewhat demanding in terms of knowing your visual cues to understand which buff you have at the time.
