Apex Legends recently created a post on X about the most recent story development for the battle royale. It showcased an image of the latest character, Alter, conversing with Horizon. A player named @SoupyFPS commented that they needed some help from the developers in the fight against cheaters.

Redditor u/abdul_bino highlighted this comment as it was later hidden by the official X account and said:

“They truly don’t even care at this point.”

Redditor u/Far_Day_3985 pointed out that it might not just be greed for profits as gameplay improvements can go hand-in-hand with raking in millions of dollars. Instead, the devs do not respect their consumers and have degraded the product, Apex Legends, to a state that remains neither retentive nor enjoyable. Content creators are also a part of this equation where the devoted viewers end up buying skins after watching various streams and videos.

Other comments followed a similar trend that questioned EA’s role in the downfall of one of the most popular battle royale titles. Almost everyone in the thread agreed that this might be the final phase of the game and it is better to stop playing. This is primarily due to the increase in cheaters and a drastic drop in gameplay experience.

Comment byu/abdul_bino from discussion inapexlegends

u/Dull-Caterpillar3153 commended the community for engaging in a discussion regarding the hidden comment on Apex’s X post. It also encouraged players to keep up the same fighting spirit even after Season 22’s release and deliver a unified response to the devs.

However, there are a few comments that provide a different perspective. It could be possible that the social media account had to hide some comments due to unnecessary spam from the player base itself. While this seems reasonable, it seems to have created a negative impact on the community.

Is EA going to shut down Apex Legends?

Apex Legends is unlikely to be shut down over a community backlash. EA holds all decision-making powers and could potentially ask the devs to bring about new changes to please the player base. The community backlashes began after the devs announced the upcoming Battle Pass changes in Season 22 which essentially doubled the cost of the feature without any improvements to the actual gameplay experience.

The player base quickly took action and released a barrage of comments and discussion threads on different social media platforms showcasing their dissatisfaction. A percentage of the community has even called for 'No Apex August' to protest against the announced changes to protect the integrity of EA's battle royale title.
