The brand-new Lifeline Prestige skin, the Apex Corruptor is one of the newest additions to the growing list of Prestige skins in Apex Legends. Part of the Double Take Collection Event, this skin will see its release with the execution of the mid-season patch for Apex Legends Season 21. While fans had been eagerly awaiting the news of Lifeline's new Mythic cosmetic, they were absolutely unprepared for what Respawn Entertainment had up their sleeves.
Fans of the game didn't spare a second and rushed to call out the developers for butchering the opportunity to design one of the best skins for a lore-rich character in the game. Popular Apex Legends content creator, LuluLuvely, in a recent post, stated that:
"They've been doing so good with skins but this one is a big miss imo. Prestige skins should encapsulate who the hero is, not be a themed skin from an event :/ could've had a sick white doctor coat for lvl 3. Also tired of the prestige skins looking like power rangers lol"

This resonated with other fans who believed that Respawn passed up a massive chance to design a well-thought-out skin for Lifelines instead of just tweaking Caustic's Prestige to fit her model. Some, such as user @SakuraCujo have resorted to calling it "hideous", hinting at the laziness behind offering a retouched skin at such a premium price ($160).
As stated before, Lifeline has some of the richest lore in Apex Legends, and failing to devise the Lifeline Prestige Skin based on the character's story, her ideologies, and how she plays out her role in the game seems like a massive miss to the community. As stated by LuluLuvely, the mere addition of a lab coat would've adhered more to her background and made the skin more appealing to the player base.
Here are a few responses from other players who shared similar takes on the situation:
Fans stated that repurposing Caustic's Prestige skin for Lifeline has simply defeated the purpose of crafting a Lifeline Prestige skin. Not taking any inspiration from her lore was the nail in the coffin for most.
Is the negativity against the Lifeline Prestige skin in Apex Legends justified?
The Lifeline Prestige skin is quite a costly addition to the game. For the most part, Prestige skins in the game have been designed to feature the Pilot variants of Legends from the Titanfall era, and if not that, it features unique lore-associated parts of a Legend's story.

However, with this skin, players have a hefty price tag to deal with and were disappointed with the massive disconnect between the skin and the Legend's personality and history. Being among the first wave of Legends introduced in the game, Lifeline has extremely rich lore, and the consensus is that the developers have failed to tap into the overflowing potential when crafting this skin.
That's all there is to know about the Lifeline Prestige skin in Apex Legends.
