Fortnite has no shortage of bugs and glitches, as is the case with any game to ever exist. While glitches are usually looked at with contempt due to their ability to hinder players' experience in a game, some glitches can be quite harmless, allowing players to poke fun at them and even laugh at how absurd they are. Needless to say, glitches in Fortnite are no exception.

This is highlighted in a recent Reddit post shared by u/Luwuma, where they shared a screenshot of their inventory during a Zero Build match in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3. While the screenshot is nothing out of the ordinary, what stands out is the player having building materials despite being in a Zero Build match.

The Reddit post understandably ignited a flurry of confused responses from members of the community, with Reddit user u/ joking about how the player should use the bricks in Zero Build game modes and stating:

“Throw bricks at people.”

Other members of the community took to the comments to chime in on the situation, with Reddit user u/Oakjewel joking about how the game was telling the player was "all bricked up", referencing the viral social media meme.

Meanwhile, Reddit user u/Comfortable-Pause506 recounted a similar instance from Chapter 5 Season 1, where they had a bug that allowed them to go into building mode.

Reddit user u/ToxicAtomKai, on the other hand, provided a potential explanation, pointing out how certain hired NPCs sometimes drop building materials despite being in Zero Build mode. Reddit user u/Trans_Tre_UwU further reinforced this point, expressing how some bosses like Ringmaster Scarr drop materials upon elimination.

Why did the player receive building materials in a Fortnite Zero Build match?

While the glitch showcased in the Reddit post is certainly confusing, the comments accompanying it provide potential explanations for the situation. It seems like the bug is caused by certain hired NPCs, specifically Supply Specialist NPCs like Bravo Leader and Centurion, who can drop materials for players regardless of the mode they are in.

This would be a problem in a Zero Build match since it would give players an unprecedented advantage against enemy players. However, since the Zero Build mode does restrict players from opening the building interface during a match, the glitch is largely harmless and should not pose much of a challenge.
