We have seen Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier boxing, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe on the tennis court and now Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the football field. Messi and Ronaldo are, by far, the best football players of this age, but which of them is better?
YouTuber Rich Leigh and BMOnus decided to find out by creating two teams made of only these two players on FIFA 17’s career mode.
FIFA 17’s career mode gives players the choice to manage their own teams and sell or buy players as per their wish. This time around, FIFA 17 has enhanced the career mode experience by adding Story mode so you can experience the emotional journey, like a player does in reality, of fighting for a place among the greatest.

Video: Here is what would happen if Barcelona and Real Madrid played in the Premier League
Here, the user decided to make two teams of 11 Messis and 11 Ronaldos each, and pitted them against five La Liga teams to see which team came out victorious.
Well, if you have a 5’7” Messi and 6’1” Ronaldo as keepers, both at a rating of 20, you are bound to get hammered, and that’s what happened in the simulation against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao.
The teams’ performaces in next match was slightly better, against Deportivo Alaves, where both lost 1-2. The fourth game with Leganes didn’t end well for Team Messi with a 4-0 loss; Team Ronaldo fought hard but went down 2-0.
Currently La Liga’s third position team, Atletico Madrid, was the opponent for the final simulation game. As expected Team Messi lost 3-0 while Team Ronaldo managed to scratch the surface with a 1-2 loss.
The results are pretty clear – fielding 11 Messis or Ronaldos in a team is not a good idea. However, the debate in real life still rages on.
