Does the combat of mainstream video games leave you wanting more? Do you wish there was a game out there that combined the Diablo style loot system with a complex cybernetic ninja action/shooter? Are you currently the owner of the Nintendo Switch?
Then have I got a title for you. Welcome to Warframe, Digital Extremes' unique co-op third-person shooter. Originally released in 2013 on PC, this game has gathered quite an intense following, with a loyal fanbase that has ground and battled through thousands of mobs in order to attain an impressive stockpile of weapons and other gear.
In the game, players will spend most of their time grinding for weapons and Warframes, which are basically your various character types. Unlocking each Warframe gives you a sense of power, as you'll earn unique abilities with each one.
For example, if you play as the Mag as I did when I started out, you're able to control magnetic energy, which gives you four important abilities: pull, magnetize, polarize, and crush. Pull allows you to bring enemies closer to you with magnetic force, stunning them as they're brought into melee range, allowing you to slice them to bits with your sword, pound them into the ground with gauntlets, or dispose of them in any other way you see fit.

Magnetize creates a magnetic field around a target, locking down enemies near them and damaging them over time. Polarize completely depletes enemy shields, and has some pretty nasty effects when combined other abilities. Finally, Crush gives you an AoE instant death ability, magnetizing the bones of nearby enemies, grinding them to dust.
Early this month, the game reached an epic milestone, keeping a consistent active player count of over 130,000 players. Since its release five years ago, Warframe has brought in an impressive 38 million players, and with the addition of the Nintendo Switch as its next platform, those numbers will only go up from here.
Owners of the Nintendo Switch can pick up this free to play masterpiece through the Nintendo Store. Anyone who logs in before December 4th will also be given a special in-game welcome pack.
While it does seem like there's a complex barrier to entry here, the smooth feel and unique gameplay of Warframe is enough to keep anyone moving forward. Once you've found a gear that you feel is worth grinding for, nothing will stop you from achieving your goal. Of course, being a free-to-play game, there are microtransactions, which can eliminate the grind if you'd rather play with your new toy right away.
Whatever you decide to do, you'll soon be mesmerized by your new Warframe, gun, or melee weapon, and will find yourself immersed in the beautiful world created by Digital Extremes. And with the latest Fortuna expansion, now's the perfect time to jump into a new exoskeleton and dive right into Warframe.
