Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun effectively delivers what we didn't know we needed: a boomer shooter set within Games Workshop's grimdark sci-fi setting. If you like Warhammer 40,000 or boomer shooters in general, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun looks like it will tick all the boxes, and we can't wait to play it.
What happens in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun?
The Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun plot is set directly after the events of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Players take on the role of a seasoned Ultramarine tasked with ripping across the galaxy and annihilating the leftover hordes of Chaos that everyone missed the first time around.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Gameplay
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is heavily inspired by the hyper-violent shooters of the 1990s, encouraging players to blast through legion after legion of chaotic demon folk in the most violent way possible while also collecting more extensive and better weapons (more on that later).
Far from being some clumsy reimagining of what those older shooters were like, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun takes everything we all loved about those games - namely, lots of hyperkinetic, violent combat, hordes of different enemies to defeat, and secrets to discover - and throws it all into 2023.
How are the enemies in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun?
Having all those flashy, super-destructive weapons is pointless if you don't have a slew of horrible, nefarious foes to use them on. Fortunately, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun lacks evil guys who want to die. Based on previous previews and gameplay demos, the currently known gallery of baddies that you'll be shooting apart includes:
Blue Horror
Chaos Cultist
Chaos Space Marine
Chaos Space Marine Terminator
Flamer of Tzeentch
Great Unclean One
Greater plague toad
Lesser plague toad
Nurglings
Pink Horror
Renegade Guardsman
What are the weapons in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun?
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun doesn't scrimp on the armaments you can employ to wreak havoc on Chaos' armies. The following are the weapons that are presently known to be available in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun.
Boltgun (Quelle surprise)
Chainsword
Meltagun
Plasmagun
Space Marine shotgun
When is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun releasing?
