Following the introduction of the Overwatch 2 Season 11 mid-season patch recently, developers have injected a massive advantage to the Tank Heroes, making other roles suffer in-game. Among a series of numerous ability buffs, a 10% DPS passive decrease has made headlines. Initially, it was implemented to make the Tank roles more sustainable. However, the implementation is far from being perfect, making the Tank Heroes unkillable. It has stirred a lot of controversies inside the Overwatch 2 community.
As a result of these massive Tank buffs, several Overwatch 2 content creators like Flats and Samito have been vocal and mentioned how other roles are struggling to sustain. This questions the integrity of Blizzard Entertainment as the game is becoming increasingly miserable for players.
On that note, u/ghostRyku posted a clip of how Hydron is struggling to kill a Mauga, even with the help of Mercy’s Damage Boost and Baptiste’s Amplification Matrix. The user mentioned:

Correlating with the above, u/Gear_ mentioned an underrated Junkerqueen buff that increased her life steal multiplier from 2 to 2.5x. This allows Australian Tank to get more aggressive and shred other low HP characters in-game. The user commented on Reddit:
"Underrated OP change: 2.5x lifesteal on JQ wounds is so fu**ed up"
u/FPSDab voiced their discontent over the unfair buffs in Season 11 mid-season and called it the “Worst patch in Overwatch’s history”. Earlier, the community complained multiple times about the massive decrease in the pick rate of Tank roles. Additionally, the 20% DPS passive perk was making them redundant in almost every spot on the map.
The user is also surprised at how Blizzard developers have put a green light on these patch notes before pushing them into the live servers. According to them, any Overwatch player having a good first look at it can determine that this patch is making the Tank Heroes overpowered, while others become miserable.

On the contrary, users like u/GloomLore, and u/Zuazzer disagreed with OP saying it doesn’t define the optimal condition. They explained further that the Bastion wasn’t receiving the proper healing in order to fight against the Mauga.
Additionally, there will be other parameters that the Tank characters have to face. Since every team comp can get access to Sleep Darts, Anti-healing canisters, grenades, and a huge Tank from their team, it’s very rare to face such a scenario during matches. Even though the users aren’t defending the Tank changes, but already pointed out some optimal situations to counter the opponent Tanks.
User u/Chnams called out the community and sarcastically posted a few words on the Overwatch 2’s subreddit forum. The user went in shock as according to u/Chnams, earlier, the community complained about Tank roles for being super defensive in maintaining their sustainability. As a result, Tank pick rates went way down.
That said, now that Blizzard has pushed some updates catered towards buffing the Tanks, Overwatch 2 fans went vocal about the Tank roles being too aggressive.
Several users on the forum like u/eshined believe that Tank characters like D.Va, Winston, and Mauga have undergone unnecessary changes. According to them, Blizzard must decrease the HP pools of those characters since they’ve removed the 20% DPS passive.
That said, the user showed optimism and firmly believes that despite the developers having a lot of things to work on, the overall changes in the Season 11 mid-season update aren’t as bad as some of the naysayers are portraying on the internet. The user commented:
"Dva, Mauga and Winston obv didn't need buffs, other buffs are still fine. But anyway, devs should nerf hp pools a bit since they increased tank damage, redused dps passive and increased armor impact. There is something to work on, but changes overall are not a disaster, no matter how hard doomers try to make it out to be."
Tank characters became unkillable after Overwatch 2 Season 11 mid-season patch
In order to balance the overall game, Blizzard has introduced some unfair changes to the Tank category. The developers have pushed several updates, enabling Tank mains to receive only 10% DPS passive alongside more HP pools while using their respective abilities. As a result, other low HP roles namely DPS and Support are feeling miserable in terms of sustainability.

Judging from several clips and comments from popular Overwatch 2 content creators, it became quite evident that inflicting a hefty amount of damage isn't enough anymore to fight Tank characters. Players worldwide need help from other in-game parameters like Sleep Darts, Genji Deflects, Anti-healing grenades, and others to shred any given Tank.
Considering the massive outrage over several internet forums, Blizzard devs must look into this matter and nerf some unnecessary changes on certain Tank Heroes, especially Mauga, D.Va, and Junkerqueen.
