One of the most frequently asked questions by FragPunk fans is what anti-cheat software the game uses. Being an online PvP shooter, it is crucial to have a strong anti-cheat system in place to prevent cheaters and hackers from ruining the competitive integrity of the game. Hence, an anti-cheat system will not only stop users from cheating but also punish them if they attempt to do so. Hence, it's quite essential to have a proper anti-cheat solution and fortunately, FragPunk does ship with one.
Read on below to find out the anti-cheat solution that the latest shooter uses to keep cheaters at bay.
Everything to know about FragPunk's anti-cheat system
FragPunk uses an anti-cheat system called Phanuel Anti-Cheat. Although this name may not resonate with everyone and some might be coming across it for the first time, it is not a new anti-cheat at all. In fact, it is just a renamed variant for Net Ease Anti-Cheat, which games like Naraka Bladepoint, Bloodstrike, and Knives Out use.

At its core, Phanuel is a kernel-level anti-cheat, which means that it will be active on your system right from your first boot, monitoring every application that is being used by the player. This has raised a few questions about privacy in the past and is a topic of in-depth discussion in online communities.

In fact, a major concern that many experts have raised previously is that if there are any vulnerabilities in a kernel-level anti-cheat software, hackers may exploit them to gain access to the user's system at the core level, which can be detrimental. However, that is a topic for another day.
Since Phanuel is just a renamed version of Net Ease Anti-Cheat, both have similar feature sets. It essentially aims to prevent cheaters from using the tools in the first place. They have an anti-debugging, anti-injection, and anti-tampering solution in place, that prioritizes prevention over punishment.
These software also update their databases frequently and are capable of detecting new cheats within just two days of their release. Moreover, they claim that the anti-cheat is not resource-hungry and has been tested to be stable and memory-efficient in high DAU and PCU environments.
