With the arrival of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, knowing the level cap in Elden Ring is a good way for players to see how far they can go to prepare themselves for the worst. After all, some players have said that the Elden Ring DLC is too difficult. Since character leveling is fairly slow, many players will never hit the level cap in Elden Ring, which is 713.

Yes, the popular open-world Soulslike by developer FromSoftware has a level cap, contrary to what some players may think. It is virtually impossible to attain for some reasons. This article explains whether it's worth grinding to reach the level cap.

All things considered, it is not worth the grind. While level 713 is the maximum level cap in Elden Ring that players can reach, it is a futile effort for two main reasons.

First, the incredibly high Rune requirements to get to that level would be too exhausting for the average player to invest in. And for those unaware, Runes are the equivalent of Dark Souls' "Souls" in Elden Ring, as they act as both EXP and currency.

Secondly, Elden Ring features a soft cap for stats. While the basic gist is to raise the stats for the class players are using (such as Intelligence for sorcery/magic builds), there are diminishing returns for raising it above a specific number (the maximum any stat can go is 99).

So, as an example, raising Intelligence above 60 or 80 maximum will not benefit the character, and farming for EXP is a waste of time.

Taking the soft stat caps into consideration, we conclude that the soft level cap in Elden Ring is level 501. Even this will be a tough climb for many, however, and more or less overkill, since the minimum level for the Elden Ring DLC is about 120 with the recommended level around 250 or higher.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtreee is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
