As mentioned, the game follows the storyline of Half-Life 2: Episode 3, titled Epistle 3. To create a new version of the Half-Life universe, the team has improved the graphics, while retaining the original style and essence of Half-Life. Interestingly, the development team consists of passionate fans of the latter from all over the world, assembled to develop the title.

The title is being developed using the Unreal Engine and not the old Source Engine from Half-Life 2 to enhance players' experience. Currently, the game is in its demo stage, and the developers are expected to launch a tech demo to test its various gaming mechanisms, such as movement mechanics, weapon feel, and AI interaction.
On September 16, 2024, they also released the first teaser trailer 1, where players witnessed the return of Ravenholm’s snow-covered street resembling the original Half-Life but with improved graphics.
They will also provide a feedback-sharing concept to help improve the game and introduce new features. Maintaining the same environment as Ravenholm, the title will feature new weapons, enemies, and many combat mechanics.

According to the official statement, there will be a deathmatch and co-op mode during the launch of Project Borealis. However, due to the significant engineering costs associated with multiplayer mode, it may be added in a later update. That said, as showcased in the teaser video, players can expect Project Borealis: Prologue to be released in fall 2024.
