The Underdog Status in Brawl Stars is a feature introduced by Supercell to balance the trophy loss in unfair matches. This status is given to a player or a team depending on the trophy count of their allies or the opposing team. It does not affect the gameplay but directly impacts the trophies gained or lost. Moreover, one can only get the status in the 3 versus 3 game modes.

When is the Underdog Status in Brawl Stars given
In Brawl Stars, matchmaking is based on the trophy count of the player with the highest trophies. This feature works fine if all three players of a team are randomly selected as all of them will have similar trophies.
However, it can cause difficulties in situations where two friends are in a lobby with a significant difference in trophy count. For instance, if Thomas and Percy with 400 and 700 trophies, respectively decide to form a lobby, the 3rd player, let's say, Henry, will be close to 700 trophies.
This would be unfair to Henry because he is stuck with a weaker teammate in Thomas. Percy also may have a disadvantage but he chose to form a lobby with Thomas, unlike Henry. In such a case, Henry would be allotted the Underdog Status.
In another case, if the average trophy count of one team is at least 150 less than the enemy team, the entire team with the lower count gets the Underdog status.

How to get the Underdog status in Brawl Stars
The Underground status is designed to help players who get stuck in unfortunate lobbies. Since the players do not get to decide what lobby they end up in, there is no particular method to get the Underdog Status. It is purely based on luck.
Additionally, it is worth noting that if the player with the status decides to stay in the team and select play again, they will lose the Underdog Status.
