Monster Hunter Wilds arrives officially on February 28, 2025, across all regions worldwide. Currently, the game is available to pre-order, so those excited about what's next in store for the series can pre-purchase it on their platform of choice. What platforms is Monster Hunter Wilds on?
The game is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms only. It is built on Capcom's latest rendition of its proprietary in-house RE Engine, which has been used in all major modern titles from the studio, starting from Resident Evil 7 and Devil May Cry 5 to the previous series entry Monster Hunter Rise. As such, it aims to deliver the most cutting-edge visuals in both the franchise's history as well as the Capcom catalog.
This is also why Monster Hunter Wilds is not on last-gen systems like PS4 and Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch. With studios moving on from legacy hardware and building games for current-gen tech, it makes sense. While the previous game Monster Hunter Rise was originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive, this successor will be skipping it for obvious hardware limitation reasons.
Of course, a port to the next-gen Nintendo Switch 2 console is not unlikely given its beefier specs according to leaks, but we'll have to wait and see if it becomes a reality.
