How to locate the Modern Axe in The Forest

The Modern Axe is located inside a cave near the main cannibal village on the southeastern part of the map. If you want an easy route, your first death in the game could be your shortcut. After dying, the cannibals will drag you into the cave, giving you direct access. If you prefer to stay alive, head to the bottom right of the map and find the main cannibal village to locate the cave’s entrance.

Making your way through the Cave

Enter the cave through its western entrance, which is tucked into a cliff near a native camp. This camp is located by a lake on the southern part of the map. Locating the entrance is the hardest part since things get a lot easier once you enter the cave.

Once inside, head down the corridor and reach the first open room to find a cannibal. Take him out and keep following the left path till you pass a boarded-up hole. Then, continue through the tunnel filled with hanging body parts until you reach the next open room. Here, you’ll face two cannibals, so clear them out quickly.

From here, take a hard left and look for a skull lantern near a rope. Slide down the rope, and follow the path to a big room filled with crates, red paint, and other loot. In the back of the room, sitting atop a box, is the Modern Axe.
