What are Mist Echoes in God of War?

In essence, Mist Echoes are valuable resources and are used for crafting over the course of the game. They’re effectively currency and collecting them is arguably one of the toughest tasks in the game as it forces Kratos to run through a realm that is covered in a poisonous mist. He has a pink bar that appears above him and if the bar empties completely, then Kratos will rapidly lose health until he dies.

Where to find Mist Echoes in God of War?

Mist Echoes can only be found in the optional realm of Niflheim. To get Mist Echoes, you must first unlock the optional realm of Niflheim in order to obtain them. Once you've unlocked it, you'll face the new challenge of obtaining the Mist Echoes.

How to obtain and keep Mist Echoes in God of War?

Once Kratos and Atreus get to Niflheim, the entire realm is filled with Mist Echoes and you can find them in every single chest in the realm. However, to collect the Mist Echoes, Kratos will need to traverse through a poisonous mist, effectively setting up a time limit and forcing you to be careful about how far into the maze you'll go. Not only that, you’ll encounter a series of enemies in the region including a Valkyrie, although fighting them is optional.

If Kratos dies before leaving the mist, he will lose any Mist Echoes and goods gathered from chests (Hacksilver, Niflheim Alloy, and a few more). However, should the former Greek God of War emerge from the mist, returning to Sindri or Ivaldi's Workshop in the arena's center will allow you to bank the Mist Echoes.

Where to find the Chilling Mists in God of War?

When Kratos arrives at Niflheim, he will find sections of fog that will kill him if he remains in them for too long. Stick to the adjacent high ground and proceed until you reach Sindri's shop. He'll explain how the maze beyond him includes more of the poisonous fog. A central chamber in the maze houses the Chilling Mists of Niflheim. Sindri can build a keystone that will enable you entry into the central chamber, which is the workshop of dwarven craftsman Ivaldi, but he will need 500 Mist Echoes to do so.

FAQs

Q. How many Mist Echoes do I need for Mist Armor?

A. You’ll need 500 Mist Echoes to give to Sindri, who will make Kratos a key for Ivalidi’s Workshop which is where the Mist Armour is located. Once it’s unlocked, Kratos will find Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor which can be taken back to Sindri to make into a new armor.

Q. What level should I be to enter Niflheim?

A. There are no power requirements to enter and play through Niflheim although those at a lower level will find it tough to explore the entire maze properly.
