In the endgame for Dragon Age The Veilguard, players are tasked with the choice of leaving behind a character to defend Divine's Manor while the others go battle the final boss. It is suggested to have a skilled character stay back as the Darkspawn enemies attack the Manor along with Morrigan and the Inquisitor. As a result, the character chosen will not be usable in upcoming battles.
Any character can be chosen as per the players' choice, but certain ones are suggested in order to obtain specific endings. Below is a guide on which character should be chosen for this task.

Which character should defend Divine's Manor in Dragon Age The Veilguard?
To defend the Manor in Dragon Age The Veilguard, it is strongly suggested to have Taash or Davrin stay back while the rest of the party goes on to the final mission. Choosing Davrin may be dependent on your previous story choices, specifically whether he or Harding was chosen to distract Ghilan'nain in Chapter 12.
For players looking to obtain the good ending to the game, choose Davrin as the distraction in Chapter 12. He will be eliminated, which will only leave Taash as the ideal character to be chosen for defending Divine's Manor. However, make sure to have Taash adequately leveled up by this point in the story.

Players looking to obtain a bad ending to Veilguard's campaign, though, should choose a character unsuited for the battle, or a character whose skills may be wasted if chosen for this fight. In this particular situation, choose a character such as Neve or Lucanis as this can assist in getting the bad ending to the game.
Do note that the choice of the character chosen to defend the Manor will not affect the ending of the game. In the case of the bad ending, as the ideal character has been chosen to defend the Manor, a weaker party member may be less than advantageous to have in the finale. Achieving the good, true, or bad ending will depend on all the other choices made throughout the game.
