The Resident Evil franchise has been dominating the survival horror genre for over 25 years. In recent years, Capcom has shifted its focus to releasing remakes of the classic Resident Evil games, giving them a fresh coat of paint and overall improvement in the controls and storyline department. These remakes have been received positively by fans and now, speculations have begun.

Capcom conducted a survey asking fans which Resident Evil game they would most like to see remade, and the response was resoundingly in favor of a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica in the RE Engine. It seems inevitable that this remake will happen, given the strong fan demand.

Let's explore the reasons behind the intense fan interest in a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake.

While the transition from PS1 to PS2 wasn't as significant as it should have been, the game did improve the visuals as compared to the blocky graphics of the previous entries in the franchise. However, by today's standards, Resident Evil Code Veronica doesn't look too polished and the graphics don't hold up.

With the RE Engine technology, Capcom can breathe new life into the Resident Evil Code Veronica remake by making it the visual treat it deserves to be. The engine can help add more atmospheric horror to the game and give every room a creepy look that makes you think twice before you enter. Resident Evil 4 Remake was a looker so imagine what Code Veronica would look like if remade.

An updated control scheme will bring new players

The remakes of the older Resident Evil games have helped younger generations connect with the classic titles by revamping the control scheme and making it a third-person shooter. The fixed camera in the original Resident Evil games from the PS1 era and the tank controls made it difficult to control your character and shoot where you want.

While those controls sat well with the audience it was originally released for, the gamers of today find it difficult to get accustomed to the controls. Resident Evil Code Veronica suffered from tank controls as well, which can be now updated with a remake. Seeing how smooth the controls of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 play are, makes the Code Veronica remake more enticing.

An improved storyline and dialogue can make it more serious

The Resident Evil remakes have not shied away from making significant changes to the game's storyline. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a great example of how the basic premise of the original stayed the same but it was improved upon by making the tone more serious. The dialogues were given an overhaul too, to make it right for the audience of today.

These changes in the storyline and characters only made the game better. There is no denying that the dialogues of the original Resident Evil games from decades ago don't hold up well as as one would like to think. A good example is the infamous Jill sandwich line from the original Resident Evil. Making these changes to dialogues and storyline can set a new tone for Code Veronica.
