Apex Legends recently got review-bombed on Steam after the developers announced the first iteration of Battle Pass changes for Season 22. The overwhelming opposition from the community forced the publisher to take a step back and add back the use of Apex Coins for the purchase of upcoming seasonal passes. The Reddit user u/JayMockingbird posted a screenshot of the game’s tag on Steam and said:

u/Vladplaya stated their dissatisfaction about the first battle pass changes that were announced, as they had spent a lot of money in the game over the years. The user went on and said that Apex Legends does not necessarily deserve a bad review on Steam but the recent events have convinced them to stop spending any more cash in the game. The comment also highlighted that the publishers might be leaning towards generating profits a bit too much rather than improving the game itself.

Reddit user u/yeekko pointed out that the reviews have a possibility of recovering only if the players update them at a later date. However, u/IHateYouAlex835293 commented that is unlikely to happen as most players are proactive about criticizing but forget to change the reviews on Steam at a later date.

u/x_JustCallMeCJ_x shared a different route where the game’s reviews could recover if the devs listened to the community for changes other than simple gameplay updates. They pointed out stability and the increase in cheaters as a direct issue that could be solved to help Apex Legends receive positive points from the player base.

The comments go on in a similar trend and express their concerns about the gameplay of EA’s battle royale title. The response to the community’s backlash might have taken a bit longer than expected and caused the loss of a chunk of the player base.

When is Apex Legends likely to gain positive reviews on Steam?

Apex Legends will likely take a long time before it is marked with a positive review tag on Steam. This completely depends on the developers and the community, which includes healthy game updates and the players being satisfied with the publisher’s efforts, respectively.

In an event where the majority of the community is satisfied with the state of the game, players would start increasing the rating, ultimately raising the overall review status on Steam. The upcoming Season 22 could potentially create a positive impact with all new changes and a brand new map to cater to the player base.
