Marvel Rivals has been dominating the online multiplayer scene ever since its release. While the hero shooter has been received positively by most players so far, a recent feature has sparked quite a discussion within the community. This newest feature now allows players to surrender their ranked matches before the match is over.

Redditor u/PepsiColasss expressed how he wasn't a fan of this feature. He goes on to explain how this will only encourage negativity and players who rage quit or give up immediately after dying multiple times.

"Yea not a fan of this tbh , there has been numerous times where we were getting destroyed by the enemy team for the whole match but then somehow right at the end we managed to take the point back and win the game. This will just encourage negativity and doomers that give up after getting killed couple times and rage quit."

Redditor u/Coldcow shares their experience of how, during a competitive match of Marvel Rivals, their team was on the losing end, and a few players on the squad wanted to give up. However, through sheer determination, the team was able to bounce back and win the match.

Redditor u/Mr.Shredder5002 expressed their opinion on how the surrender feature is not a good idea. Their thought process lines up with Redditor u/PepsiColasss where they too think that it makes it very easy for players to rage quit after they lose the first team fight.

While many players have voiced their opinion against this new feature, there have been some that do see positives in it. These have been formed due to their current experiences in the game's competitive mode.

Redditor u/R0gueX3 mentions how the only reason they like this feature is due to how they have had to finish their competitive matches despite having a few players quit the game before it has even ended. This left them in a disadvantage and made them have a terrible experience in the match.

Redditor u/Delicious_Effect_838 had a similar opinion where they sarcastically talk about the new surrender feature as an awesome addition as they keep getting matched with teammates who go afk and demand a surrender instead of finishing the match.

Is Marvel Rivals' surrender feature a positive addition?

Marvel Rivals has a total of three game modes in its competitive queue: Convoy, Domination, Convergence. All these game modes can be dealt with very quickly as they are a lot shorter than modes from other online video game titles.

However, the best aspect of these modes is how, with proper strategy, things can flip over at any moment of the match and give control to the losing team. The game's overtime system also allows for this to happen, as it gives players a last chance to battle till the end of a checkpoint or the round itself.

The "surrender" feature can and will most likely hurt the quality of many matches in Marvel Rivals competitive mode. However, at the very least, it does help out the players who have to play through the 5v6 or 4v6 matches that have been caused by genuine reasons like internet disconnection or server issues. Although every player may have their own perspective on this feature.
