Resident Evil 9 might just stick to single-player following a shift in approach by Capcom
It appears that Resident Evil 9 was going to include a multiplayer experience, according to leaked details by a popular German YouTuber Andi, who runs a channel called Screenfire Germany.
A few days ago, the leaked information regarding the game was shared on Reddit by a user named u/No1PiggyOnTheBlock.
If the details are anything to go by, Capcom initially wanted to make Resident Evil 9 a multiplayer game. Its development reportedly began between 2016 and 2017.
However, the developer eventually decided to change the strategy while restarting the development in 2018. The idea of multiplayer has been abandoned since then and Resident Evil 9 is said to be focusing solely on offering a single-player experience, similar to its predecessors. This rumored update is based on YouTuber Andi's knowledge gathered from sources.
So is it safe to say that RE9 will only include a single-player setup? That seems to be the case for now but this is just a speculation based on leaked information. Nothing can be confirmed until Capcom provides an official update.
Speaking of the unannounced game, it's expected to feature Leon Kennedy alongside Jill Valentine. It is rumored to have a co-op style similar to the 2005 Resident Evil 5, where the main protagonist, Chris Redfield, was assisted by another important character, Sheva Alomar.
