With Splitgate 2 just a year from release, fans of the upcoming shooter have been wondering if it will be available on PS4 and Xbox One. For those unaware, Splitgate 2 is an upcoming 4v4 free-to-play shooter from 1047 Games that will feature different factions for players to pick from while competing for "glory." Since it is a 2025 launch, many fans have been wondering whether it will be available on the last generation consoles.

All supported platforms for Splitgate 2

The game will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S and X, and Xbox One. So to answer the question, yes, Splitgate 2 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

The game will be available on both last-gen and current-gen systems along with Windows PC. Since it is a free-to-play shooter, 1047 Games is targeting players across all active platforms.

Despite being a 2025 release, it won't be surprising if the game is still supported on consoles that will be almost 12 years old at the time of its release. That is because a huge playerbase still owns last-gen consoles.

Although we cannot speak for Xbox directly, Sony recently shared a report, which showed that almost half of all PlayStation gamers are on PS4. Something similar is also expected with Xbox One players.

If the title is released only on the PS5 and Xbox Series S and X, the devs will be missing out on a large player base, as last-gen gamers will be unable to play the title.

The shooter is currently at the alpha stage and a few lucky players can currently try it out. Unfortunately, this alpha build is only available on PC and the devs are yet to confirm a date for consoles. That said, however, the game is now listed on both the Xbox and PlayStation stores. You may wishlist it and be notified of its release or availability when it is ready for your particular system.

Moreover, if they follow the same model for online play as Splitgate, players won't even have to pay for online subscriptions, such as PlayStation Plus, to try the title online.
