Wuthering Waves 1.1 Depths of Illusive Realm guide

Depths of Illusive Realm is one of the most rewarding events in Wuthering Waves. In this roguelike, limited-time event, players have to select a particular resonator along with a bunch of upgrade cards and fight enemies through different stages to complete the event.

Version 1.1 of Wuthering Waves brings a new edition of Depths of Illusive Realm, where new mechanics like Tokens, Symphony Rank, and Memetic Tuning have been added to customize your build and provide an edge over your enemies.

Event duration and how to unlock it in Wuthering Waves

Depths of Illusive Realm will be available from July 4, 10:00 to August 5, 2024, 03:59 (server time). You need to be at least Union Level 17 to unlock the event. Increase your Union Level quickly by completing daily tasks to gain Activity Points and going through the main quests. Upon reaching Union Level 17, you'll get the quest that will guide you to unlocking the event.

How to play the event

Once you've unlocked the Depths of Illusive Realm event, directly access and play the event through the event's page. There are five stages in the event, clear the first stage to unlock the next one. Each stage gradually gets more difficult by increasing their enemy level, recommended character level, and the number of fighting realms you must pass to clear the stage.

Select one Resonator from your roster to play the stages of the Depths of Illusive Realm event. Choose from trial Resonators if you don't have a Resonator built at the recommended level or want to play with one you don't have yet in your party.

A few new systems have been added in Depths of Illusive Realm in version 1.1 of Wuthering Waves.

Memetic Tuning is a system in which you can customize and fine-tune the stage's difficulty and its combat according to your liking. This will provide you with more, or sometimes fewer points, based on the modifiers you choose. Up to four modifiers can be selected per stage.

Symphony Rank is a "style ranking" system in which the more combos you perform, the better your rank will be. Having a better rank will give you more points.

After selecting the Resonator you want to play, you can enter the stage. You'll be asked to choose different items of randomized selections of an offensive or defensive Echo, a support unit, and upgrades for your selected Resonator. After clearing a chamber, you can pick random buffs for your selected Resonator or a random Metaphor.

Metaphors are the randomized upgrades you can choose after clearing each chamber in a stage. They apply random enhancements or buffs to the Echo or Resonator you've chosen.

The general gameplay cycle revolves around clearing Memory Rooms in each stage of Depths of Illusive Realm. You may face various challenges in each room, like guarding a monolith from enemies, defeating waves of enemies, or fighting the overworld bosses.

Once you've cleared a room, you are awarded Dream Fragments, which you may use to buy various items from a vendor. These items can range from providing shields or buffs to your Resonator to new metaphors to increase your power. Every stage ends with a boss battle when all your upgrades and skills will be tested.

Another new feature added to Depths of Illusive Realm in version 1.1 is Tokens. These items are rewarded after completing Memory Zone challenges and provide various attribute bonuses that may buff or debuff your characters.

Apart from Metaphors and character buffs inside the Depths of Illusive Realm stages, there is a section called Thought Evolution. Here, you can purchase permanent buffs for your characters using Memory Points gained after completing a stage. These permanent buffs may prove significant if you struggle to defeat the tougher enemies in later stages.

Depths of Illusive Realm is one of the most rewarding events in Wuthering Waves. Earn astrites by completing various challenges, like using different echoes and characters to clear stages in the event, etc. Check these challenges from the Anomaly Investigation section on the event's page. There are also first-time completion rewards for clearing each stage for the first time.

Moreover, there's an Illusive Store in the event where players can purchase rewards using a special currency called Illusive Specimens. Earn this currency by clearing the stages in the event.
