Wuthering Waves features a complex world filled with Tacet Discord, who can drop Echoes. These perform in the same manner as artifacts or relic sets from other gacha games. Understanding the Echo cost system is crucial to maximize your gameplay. Echoes provide various abilities based on their ranks, each having its own set of costs that influence your resonator build.

In this guide, we will cover everything to know about the Echo cost system, how they affect Echo stats, and the best combinations to use in Wuthering Waves.

Echoes are a core gameplay mechanic in Wuthering Waves that provide different stats and abilities to resonators. The number of Echoes you can equip is limited by the Echo cost limit. Echoes are categorized into three main classes based on their cost. Here is a quick overview:

  • Cost 1: Common Class Echo
  • Cost 3: Elite Class Echo
  • Cost 4: Overlord/ Calamity Class Echo

The Echo cost limit is capped at 10 in the initial stages of Wuthering Waves. Players can increase the Echo cost limit to 12 by unlocking Data Bank Level 8, which can be done by collecting Echoes from overworld and completing milestone challenges. This Echo cost limit prevents players from equipping too many powerful Echoes simultaneously, encouraging strategic combinations of different Echo classes.

Each Echo has two main stats which are determined by the Echo's cost. The table below will show all the primary stats and secondary stats you can obtain on Echoes based on their cost.

As shown in the table above, Cost 1 Echoes will always have Flat HP as secondary stats. Similarly, Cost 3 and 4 Echoes will always have Flat ATK as the secondary main stat. Primary stats are randomized based on the Echo's cost, forcing players to keep farming until they achieve the desired main stat with the highest rarity Echo based on your SOL3 Phase Rank.

It is worth noting that Echoes cannot have duplicate sub-stats, but their sub-stat can be the same as the main stat. For example, it is possible to get a CRIT-Rate sub-stat on a Cost 4 Echo whose primary stat is CRIT-Rate as well.

Furthermore, higher-cost Echoes will have better abilities and boosts, which would increase your team's overall damage.

Due to the Echo cost limitation, resonators can equip Echoes in various combinations. Naturally, some combinations will provide better stats and boosts than others. For players with an Echo cost limit of 12, the best combination to follow is 4-3-3-1-1. Prioritize the following main stats in this combination:

  • Cost 4: CRIT-Rate/ DMG
  • Cost 3: Elemental DMG Bonus
  • Cost 1: ATK%

Although the combination will be optimum for all resonators, the main stats will vary based on their kit and multiplier scaling.
