When the Forest is No Longer Dim is an exploration quest in Wuthering Waves which focuses on the toxic environment caused by an outburst of spores in the Dim Forest. You will have the chance to team up with two researchers and a friendly Hoochief to save the Dim Forest and restore normalcy. It is a decently long quest and fetches you rewards such as 1000 Union EXP and 100 Astrite among others.

To start When the Forest is No Longer Dim in Wuthering Waves, teleport to the resonance beacon in Jinzhou found near the Synthesizer. You will find an anxious researcher here. Talk to him to know about the problem he is facing and the quest will begin.

Head to the distress signal location and defeat the Exiles

Teleport to the Dim Forest resonance nexus and go to the marked location. You will find a camp filled with Exiles along with a researcher and a Hoochief trapped in a cage. Defeat the Exiles and retrieve the Rusty Data Chip to free the researcher and the Hoochief.

Venture into the contaminated zone with Qiaomu

After rescuing the researcher and the Hoochief, the former will introduce herself as Qiaomu. Have a conversation with her. You will have to look for her research partner Senmin in the contaminated zone. Proceed to the roots of the Giant Banyan to find this zone.

Search for the missing researcher and head to the first contaminated zone

Use your sensor to find multiple interactives until you find Senmin passed out on the ground. Bring her to safety and discuss the final plan with the researchers to cure the Dim Forest. This will involve destroying three Offshoot Cores before eliminating the Main Core on top of the Giant Banyan.

Destroy the first Offshoot core and obtain its sample

The three puzzles to destroy the Offshoot cores are the trickiest parts of this exploration quest. Follow the marked location to find the first Offshoot core. To easily do this objective, equip a pistol Resonator like Mortefi or Chixia. Here is a simplified step-by-step guide to doing this puzzle:

Hit the drone (once) that starts the puzzle
Hit the drone (once) to the right of the one that starts the puzzle
Hit the drone (twice) behind the Offshoot core

After doing the puzzle, talk to Qiaomu and head towards the second contaminated zone marked on the map. You have to defeat a couple of Tacet Discords along the way as well.

Destroy the second Offshoot core and obtain its sample

The second Offshoot core is a bit more complicated than the first one but is still easily doable. Refer to the image above to see the final layout of the puzzle and do the same to complete this part of the quest. Return to the campsite after this ordeal to assist the researchers in making antibodies.

You will help the researchers make antibodies. Follow their instructions and give them the necessary materials from the locations mentioned. Making mistakes will not negatively impact this objective, so you need not worry about potentially restarting the whole task.

Help Hohoo and head to the third contamination zone

After making the antibodies, the Hoochief named Hoohoo will run off to the area near the Violet Banyan. Follow it and defeat a few contaminated Hoochiefs and a Havoc Dreadmane. Head to the third contamination zone to find the final Offshoot core that needs to be destroyed.

The final Offshoot core puzzle has the most amount of drones. However, as you can see in the image, not every drone needs to be connected. You can follow the sequence in the image and hit the drones in a manner to recreate it to complete this puzzle.

Head to the abandoned research institute and activate Signal Consoles

Once all three Offshoot core puzzles have been completed, head to the abandoned research institute by teleporting to the southern Wenye Beach resonance beacon. Defeat more contaminated Hoochiefs and solve three signal console puzzles to enter the institute. The solutions for all three puzzles are listed below:

Completing all three will unlock the gate and allow you to read a note left behind by Senmin's deceased mentor. After this, you will have to wait till the next evening. Set the in-game time to 17:00-19:00 for the next day to continue with the quest.

Return to the campsite and climb to the top of the Giant Banyan

Have a chat with Qiaomu and Senmin, and you can find a movement challenge that will easily guide you to the top of the Giant Banyan Giant Banyan to destroy the Main core. Activate the challenge and collect all the lights to reach the top of the tree. Defeat all the Hoochiefs to destroy the Main core.

Teleport to the Dim Beacon resonance nexus and reconvene with Qiaomu, Senmin, and Hoohoo to see the revitalized Giant Banyan. Have one final conversation with them to complete this Wuthering Waves exploration quest.
