XDefiant community explores Steam release possibility following game's Epic Games Store launch

XDefiant is now available on the Epic Games Store. While this is exciting news for many fans, some are wondering about the possibility of the game’s availability on Steam. Both stores have a large number of titles, and Steam is especially popular among fans of first-person shooters. Other Ubisoft releases, such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, are already available in the digital distribution service.

An X post recently asked fellow users if Ubisoft should make XDefiant available on Steam. The post soon went viral, with many fans voicing their opinions.

X user @StixFigures hoped Ubisoft would make its latest FPS title available on Steam soon.

Another X user pointed out how Rainbow Six Siege was already on Steam and that they were surprised XDefiant wasn't also available. They said:

"Steam would give this game huge exposure. I’m surprised it’s not on there yet since Siege already is."

User @Tony_Omega said having XDefiant on Steam would work well for them because they have all of their games on the service. While they don't mind the Ubisoft launcher, having everything organized in one place is neater.

User @ImChoZen3 pointed out that while many fans want the title on Steam, Ubisoft hasn't taken any steps to make it happen. They said:

"A lot of people requested to add the game to Steam and they’ve been listening to the community often. Why wouldn’t they do it this time?"

Another X user @AceFoxxii felt like it wouldn't really matter if the shooter was on Steam. They said players would still have to use the Ubisoft launcher to play the game anyway.

XDefiant Season 1 is officially live

XDefiant Season 1 was released on July 2, 2024. It introduced a ton of content to the game, including a new faction, maps, and more.

The faction introduced is called GSK and comes from the developer's other title, Rainbow Six Siege. The title also got a new Capture The Flag mode, as well asthree new map locations: Daytona, Clubhouse, and Rockefeller.

While the season's arrival was rather exciting, it came with its own set of issues. Players reported issues such as the XDefiant 'failed to join party group not found' error and a frame rate issue on PS5.

Ubisoft is currently working on patching all these bugs and glitches. Players can check for updates on the game's official X account.
