Xilonen in Genshin Impact: Kit, meta, and character mechanisms explained

Xilonen in Genshin Impact is a new 5-star Geo character from Natlan's Children of Echoes tribes. She is an amazing support unit that offers a lot of utility. Xilonen can shred the enemies' Elemental Resistance depending on her party members' elements and also provide a good amount of healing. Moreover, she is excellent for exploration, thanks to her Elemental Skill.

That said, since she is a new character, many might wonder if they should pull her. This article will briefly cover Xilonen's kit and explain her meta value in Genshin Impact.

Xilonen kit and mechanism

Normal Attacks

In the normal state, Xilonen has regular Normal Attacks with three rapid strikes. Meanwhile, her Charged Attack allows her to perform a forward kick after consuming a fixed amount of Stamina.

That said, in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, Xilonen's Normal Attacks will perform up to four kicks using her roller blades but she can't use Charged Attacks. Furthermore, her Normal and Plunging Attack in the Nightsoul's Blessing state will be based on her DEF and will deal Geo DMG that cannot be overridden.

Elemental Skill

After casting her Elemental Skill, Xilonen gains Nightsoul Points and enters the Nightsoul's Blessing state. This increases her movement ability, allowing her to easily climb the mountains and even stop in the middle of her climb to check out the surroundings, making her an extremely good character for exploration, especially in Natlan.

Xilonen's Elemental Skill also provides her with three Samplers, which are Geo by default. However, for each Pyro/Cryo/Electro/Hydro party member, one Sampler will change into the corresponding element. For example, if Mualani is on the team, one Sampler's color will change to blue, indicating the Hydro element. These Samplers can be seen next to her Nighsoul Blessing meter.

Hitting an enemy with two Normal Attacks under the Nightsoul's Blessing state will fully restore Xilonen's Nightsoul points. This will also activate the Samplers and decrease the corresponding Elemental Resistance of the enemy, up to 36% at C0. Meanwhile, if her Samplers are Geo, it will continuously provide the Geo Elemental Resistance reduction effect.

Elemental Burst

Upon casting Elemental Burst, Xilonen will deal Nightsoul-aligned AoE Geo DMG based on her DEF. Furthermore, her Elemental Burst will have two different effects depending on her party members' elements.

If Xilonen has at least two Samplers of elements other than the Geo, she will heal the nearby active units at fixed intervals. However, if she has at least two Samplers with Geo element, she will deal two additional instances of Nightsoul-aligned AoE Geo DMG.

Xilonen's meta value

From the meta perspective, Xilonen is undoubtedly one of the best characters in Genshin Impact and is even comparable to Kazuha. Depending on her party members' elements, she can shred the opponent's Elemental Resistance, up to 36% at C0. In addition, she increases the team's survivability rate by healing the on-field unit.

Furthermore, equipping Xilonen with Natlan's new Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set will allow her to provide damage buffs to her teammates, making her fit into a lot of teams in Genshin Impact. In hindsight, in addition to healing, she has more flexibility than Kazuha in most scenarios and can essentially do everything he does in battle, while only failing to provide crowd control ability.

Even outside battles, Xilonen is extremely useful and can make exploration more fun and efficient, thanks to her ability to move on rollerblades under the Nightsoul's Blessing state. Needless to say, she is also pretty F2P friendly and one of her best weapons is a 4-star craftable Sword from Natlan.

Therefore, pulling for Xilonen is highly recommended, especially if a player is looking for a support unit and does not have Kazuha.
