Finding Elena is a side quest you can take up in Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana, which is a remaster of Ys: The Oath in Felghana. Start the quest

Elena can go missing from the town at various points in the game, but she usually comes back. However, in one instance, you must take the initiative of bringing her back. This quest becomes available after you complete the abandoned mine. Thus, you'll need to complete the quest after the abandoned mine and before you travel to the Elderm Mountains. There is no quest-giver in this scenario. You can immediately start the quest by finding Elena.

Finding Elena

Make your way to the Valestein Castle. Once there, head towards the coast and you will spot Elena standing on a pier. Interact with her to provide a bit of dialogue, following which you'll escort her home.

At this point, the mission turns into an escort quest, which will come with its caveats. Elena doesn't walk as fast as you do, so must wait at times to let her catch up to you. The game will also warn you if she is falling behind.

You must also fight enemies that stand in your path. However, be careful here — it'll take only one or two hits for Elena to go down and the quest to go awry. Thus, if possible, create a manual save before you trigger this quest. However, aside from a few enemies, the path to her home is quite linear.
